In coordination with Indian missions, volunteers help workers navigate legal processes, access temporary accommodation and arrange emergency financial support. Community leaders say the demand for such assistance has grown as labour regulations become more complex.
The United Arab Emirates has formal grievance mechanisms, but language barriers and legal costs discourage many workers from approaching authorities directly. Community mediation often bridges this gap.
Activists stress the need for stronger institutional backing for these associations, noting that migrant welfare extends beyond government frameworks. They argue that Kerala–Gulf ties are sustained not only by economics, but by community solidarity built over decades.
