The Times of Gulf (TG): Mr. Shinoj Rajan, your name has become synonymous with a “tidal shift” in the UAE logistics sector. With over two decades of expertise, what was the spark that led to the creation of Ganges Logistics LLC?
Mr. Shinoj Rajan (SR): It’s a pleasure to speak with you. The spark was quite simple: I saw a complex, often fragmented shipping matrix and believed it could be more fluid—more like a river. My goal was to create a company that balanced massive global scale with the integrity of a boutique partnership. We wanted to move beyond just “transportation” and offer what I call “Logistics Reimagined”—a system built on trust, openness, and mutual respect.
TG: Speaking of scale, we’ve just learned that Ganges has expanded its warehousing capacity to more than 20,000 square meters. How does this massive infrastructure upgrade change the game for your clients?
SR: Our expansion into over 20,000 square meters in JAFZA and the UAE mainland is a milestone for us. It allows us to provide specialized, temperature-controlled environments for pharmaceuticals and electronics, and SIRA-approved zones for high-stakes chemical logistics. By doubling our footprint, we can handle larger volumes while maintaining the precision and safety our partners expect. It’s about giving our clients the room to grow without worrying about the limitations of their supply chain.
TG: Ganges is famously a market leader in transit transportation to landlocked regions like Afghanistan and the CIS countries. What is the secret to successfully “bringing the sea” to these landlocked nations?
SR: It’s about commitment and local knowledge. Many find Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, or Kyrgyzstan daunting due to their geography. However, we’ve established a seamless corridor through Pakistan and Iran, utilizing our own GPS-tracked fleet. We take the complexity out of the equation for our clients. By managing everything from cargo pick-up to cross-border customs in-house, we ensure that being landlocked is no longer a barrier to participating in global trade.
TG: One of the most inspiring aspects of your leadership is your partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and Humanitarian City Dubai. How does it feel to lead a company that acts as a lifeline in crisis zones?
SR: It is arguably our most fulfilling work. Handling humanitarian cargoes requires more than just efficiency; it requires heart and a high degree of compliance. When we move life-saving supplies, we are not just moving freight—we are moving hope. Operating in challenging environments has taught us that integrity is the most valuable commodity we carry.
TG: You are a specialist in Chemical Logistics, utilizing Food-Grade ISO Tanks. How do you ensure such high standards of purity and safety in an industry where contamination is a constant risk?
SR: Safety is a core value, not just a policy. Our Food-Grade ISO Tanks are strictly dedicated to consumables—they never carry anything else. We have full traceability and control over every product ever carried in our fleet. Combined with our specialized silo operations and chemical repacking services, we offer a level of purity that gives our food and pharmaceutical clients total peace of mind.
TG: Digitalization is the buzzword of 2026. How is Ganges Logistics staying ahead of the curve when it comes to “Smart Logistics”?
SR: We view technology as the nervous system of our operations. While we have removed traditional “End-to-End” labels, we have replaced them with intelligent visibility. We are investing heavily in AI-driven route optimization and real-time carbon footprint tracking. Our goal is a “Glass Pipeline” where a client doesn’t just know where their container is, but also its internal temperature and humidity in real-time. We aren’t just adopting tech; we are tailoring it to ensure the physical flow of goods never stops.
TG: The world is talking about “Resilience over Efficiency” this year. How has Ganges prepared its network to handle global supply chain disruptions like port congestions or rerouting needs?
SR: The global supply chain no longer flows in straight lines. Whether it’s canal restrictions or geopolitical shifts, reliability is now the currency of our industry. We have built resilience by diversifying our trade routes and maintaining a “Ready-to-Deploy” status. Because we operate our own fleet and have strong strategic alliances with prime carriers, we can reroute shipments in real-time using predictive analytics. We don’t wait for a disruption to happen; we plan for the “what if” every single day.
TG: Finally, Mr. Rajan, as a leader who has achieved exponential growth, what advice do you have for the next generation of logistics professionals in the Gulf?
SR: Always prioritize the relationship over the transaction. In this industry, things will always change—routes will shift, and markets will fluctuate. But if you build your business on trust and excellence, you will always find a way forward. Embrace technology, stay agile, and remember that we are here to serve our customers’ dreams, not just their shipments.
